Handset / Scanset
Imagine having a string of 256 Christmas lights. Now, think that each light can be either off or on. The number of possible combinations of off and on lights is astounding. The actual possible number is 1.157 x 1077. Well, believe it or not, that is the number of possible configurations in many of Metrologic's bar code scanners. Most of our scanners have 32 bytes of eight bit configuration memory. This yields 256 bits of memory that can either be off or on.

Inside of the scanner, each of these bits has a different function. Traditionally bar code scanners have used bar code menus to configure or program the scanner. This method works well but can be tedious when more complicated configurations are used or the scan pattern of the scanner does not lend itself well to reading menus. Another solution is to use Metrologic's user-friendly configuration programs Scanset & Handset. These programs are menu driven, easy to use programs that allow you to program or configure the scanner from the serial port of a PC. Handset works with the MS951, the IS4120, and the IS4320. Scanset works with the MS700i, the MS860, the MS6720, and all of Metrologic's Tech line of scanners. In addition, Metrologic will bring you in 1997, Holoset which will be an easy to use program specifically designed to work with Metrologic's line of HoloTrak scanners. These programs make it easy for you, the customer, to integrate Metrologic's scanners into your system.
