What is EAS and how does it work ?

EAS stands for Electronic Article Surveillance and is a highly effective method to reduce shop lifting and theft. Products are then tagged with a small EAS tag that appears as a small sticker. The sticker contains a capacitor that is destroyed during the deactivation process. The antenna emits a deactivation field that is tuned to be just smaller than the scan volume, to ensure that the product is scanned before it is deactivated.

MS 7320 InVista and MS 7600 Horizon - Electronic Article Surveillance ready

In the time it takes you to be read this page, shoplifters will steal about € 20.000,- from retailers.
Every minute, more than 800 shoplifters strike, each taking an average of € 25,- in merchandise. Worldwide, shoplifting means lost sales, higher inventory costs, and tighter margins - all of which can be disastrous in today's increasingly competitive marketplace. Fortunately, retailers can stop shoplifters and cut shrink. Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems have been proven to protect your merchandise against shoplifters.

Metrologic's InVista and Horizon omnidirectional scanners are supplied with an integrated EAS deactivation antenna that provides simultaneous scanning and deactivation of security tags, helping to reduce shrink in retail applications.
