Can I connect a keyboard wedge scanner to a Laptop or Notebook?
Yes, but you should test this first. It should work with the majority of Laptops but not necessarily with all. With some Laptops it works only if you add a physical external Keyboard to the scanner. Metrologic canīt guarantee that this solution will always work.
Does Metrologic offer a hand scanner for connection to Laptops but without the keyboard wedge cable?
Yes. There is also a single ended KBW version of the MS951 which was designed for Laptops and the IBM Sure One Cash Register. This scanner may also not work with all Laptops or Notebooks.
Does Metrologic offer another solution that I can connect a RS232 hand scanner to a free comm port without the need for a external Power supply?
Yes. Using Metrologic MS951 RS232 plus comm cable #52357 allows you to communicate with the comm port (9 pin DSUB port). It takes the power for the scanner by connecting to the external keyboard port (6 pin Mini Din).
Does Metrologic offer a solution which will function with Terminals in Keyboardwedge emulation?
Yes. This requires the MIC2. The MIC2 is a small box and its name is a abreviation for MULTI INTERFACE CONVERTER. It converts from different input standards into different output standards. The MIC2 connection list shows you if the teminal is supported. In fact there are about 250 terminal types which are supported and the number is increasing.
